Due to increasing enrollment at all grade levels, Deer Creek Public Schools was compelled to increase all of their facilities throughout the District, including the facilities on their main campus. The freshmen will occupy classrooms, science labs, administration and a cafeteria in a building built for them. The building will provide nine classrooms, a computer lab, and three science labs with prep and storage rooms for the students. There will be physical connections to the rest of the high school campus yet the students will be able to feel like they are in their own school.

One of the first things that draws your attention as you approach the school is the sweeping entry canopy. In between the classroom wings are playground areas for the students to play. The separation of these playground areas will allow staff and teachers to separate the students into age groups. If a storm should approach, don’t worry the Cafeteria is also a storm shelter. The legacy begins when one enters through the main entrance under the bell tower and continues as it opens into the grand commons area. Stone walls, a fountain, clerestory windows and murals depicting Oklahoma history and countryside highlight the large open Commons. Academia is served by the classroom learning environment, including computer labs, music, drama, and art, and is supported by the media center. A large multipurpose room serves as the student dining room as well as an area for functions during and after school hours. Student safety concerns prompted the District to provide a FEMA rated storm shelter which is housed in the wrestling room area. The athletic area is provided with its own entrance and features two gymnasiums, a weight room, a wrestling room, locker rooms and a concession area. Students exercise on their football and soccer field, track, baseball and softball diamonds and tennis courts, and can pick up a bite to eat at the concessions building during tournaments.
